That was fucking EPIC

By far the coolest submission of this year's Madness day. I'm surprised how few music-video-type Flash submissions there are on NG, so it's awesome to see such a fine example get popular. Hope we see more similar submissions in the future!

Funny idea, but...

This type of joke doesn't work as a stand-alone Flash. It's something that would be joked about in a longer cartoon.

Onto Flash work, I didn't like the fact that you used dynamic text. It made the text selectable (annoying), it gives the text a choppy look, and makes certain sentences cut off where your text box cut off. Even if you didn't switch to static text, you can make dynamic text non-selectable in the properties, and you can either extend the box horizontally or change its mode to "multiline" to solve the cut-off problem. If you're programming the sentences in with the flattery as a variable, "\n" creates a line break.

Aside from the text, the looping is a big problem; it not only makes the background music overlap, but it makes you as an author look either extremely unknowledgable in Flash, or extremely lazy with your Flash.

On a lighter note, I loved the background music.

Loved every second.

Now for some constructive criticism and helpful--Oh fuck, I've got deadlines!! OMG TIS RULZ

Addictive. Challenging. Inspirational.

I've never had so much fun with a Flash game! There are some truly visionary and inspirational games on NG, and this is by far the best Shmup the site has to offer.
The ability to turn your guns manually alone could revolutionize the genre, but all the other customization options take that even further. I found myself changing my entire loadout to fit the specific needs of certain levels, so even a gun as overpowered as the Rubber Cannon can't carry you through the whole game.
My only comment as to how to improve the game would be to add more unique customization to shields and engines. This game totally nailed the weapons, but something like a really fast engine that has a "slippery" acceleration/deceleration would be cool and balanced, or a weak shield that regenerates. Also, the Ship Mods should make the ship look different.
Overall, one of the best submissions I've seen to the website!
Did I mention the visuals are beautiful?

Classic SHIFT Action Revamped

I love the new adventure mode making the game a tad less linear, though I did miss the GLaDOS-like captions. There were there a little, just less.

Anyways, not does this version bring to the table an awesome new adventure mode that must've been tons more work to put together, but every other part of the Flash (level editor, user levels, etc.) is polished to a mirror shine as well. This is the definition of just how great a Flash game can be.

As for the "secret celebrity character", seriously...dude...Mel Gibson? I was hoping for Pico or someone more involved with NewGrounds.

Amazing concept. So much potential!

Wow, just wow. This game took me back to my first days experiencing Portal. Without even reading the description where you mention Portal, I was reminded of it in the sense that you present us with a fairly simple concept that yields seemingly limitless potential in the hands of a good level designer. Then, the pitch-black humor of the captions kept reminding me of GLaDOS until finally the "timer is a lie" line gave away that this was intentional.

Anyways, back to the concept, this is the best concept for a game I've seen since Portal (but still no Portal)! The first time shifting, I literally dropped my jaw!

The only advice I have is to maybe tighten up the graphics? There are tons of subtle charms to them like the red blood or the spikes colored to show up on black or white, but the character animations could be a bit smoother.

I rule.
